Contributes to the university's mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit.
Major/Essential Functions
- Teaches undergraduate courses and possibly some graduate courses in the IMSE department.
- Courses to be taught would include courses in one or more of the following different areas: Human Factors, Manufacturing, Operations Research, and Systems and Engineering Management.
- Some courses may be taught via distance.
- Must be able to teach courses with as many as 100 students in a section.
- Instructors are expected to hold scheduled office hours.
- Support program-building efforts and provide student advising and mentoring.
Required Qualifications
A terminal degree (Ph.D.) in industrial engineering or closely related field.
This position is designated as involving access to critical infrastructure systems and/or research, as defined by Texas Executive Order GA-48. As such, candidates must successfully complete a comprehensive background check prior to employment. Employees are required to comply with all applicable state and federal regulations related to the protection of critical infrastructure. Ongoing employment is dependent upon maintaining eligibility for access and successfully passing periodic security and compliance reviews.

- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to teach effectively in IMSE subject areas.
