College/Department Information
The Division of Institutional Effectiveness (IE) provides support and leadership through planning, assessment, data analysis and reporting, performance monitoring and improvement, and project management. The practical and collaborative services drive overall organizational improvements in quality, responsiveness, and efficiency for internal and external stakeholders.
Job Summary
The Sr. Academic Planning and Assessment Coordinator supports Augusta University's schools and colleges in collaboration with faculty, staff, and academic affairs leadership to assess and evaluate academic programs.
The position plays a key role in strengthening institutional effectiveness by facilitating meaningful assessment practices and ensuring data-informed decision-making across AU academic program portfolio. It also oversees the academic program review process in alignment with institutional and Board of Regents policies and procedures. Responsibilities include managing the multi-year review schedule, developing and publishing review procedures and tools, and providing direct support to program leaders in evaluating the viability, productivity, and quality of Augusta University's academic degree programs.
Through these efforts, the Sr. Academic Planning and Assessment Coordinator ensures excellence, alignment, and continuous improvement across the university's academic program portfolio.
Responsibilities
ACADEMIC PROGRAM EVALUATION: Support program evaluation activities to ensure academic and administrative programs are effectively reviewed and continuously improved. Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of program data. Coordinate logistics for program evaluation activities such as surveys, focus groups, or reporting cycles. Draft reports and summaries of evaluation findings. Maintain evaluation records and documentation to support accreditation and academic planning processes. Provide administrative and technical support to faculty, staff, and committees engaged in program evaluation.
ACCREDITATION SUPPORT: Assist the Institutional Accreditation Liaison and accredited academic programs with accreditation activities, including the development of reports to support compliance.
ACADEMIC PROGRAM ASSESSMENT PROCESS: Support colleges and academic programs in their efforts to assess student learning outcomes. This support includes, but is not limited to the following, providing support through group and one-on-one interactions related to developing and accessing student learning outcomes. Participating in groups, committees, and teams that support the student learning outcome development and assessment process. Provide leadership as requested to plan ongoing meetings and activities for these groups, committees, and teams. Participating in collaborative student learning outcome assessment training efforts with Faculty Development for new faculty and program assessment directors. Encouraging best practices for student learning outcome assessment. Developing and providing reports of progress to encourage continuous improvement. Participating in related projects or initiatives to further understanding of college-level and student learning outcomes activities.
COLLABORATION WITHIN DIVISION AND INSTITUTION: Collaborate within the division and the institution to support ongoing projects and efforts that support the effectiveness of the institution, including the following, serving as a conduit into Institutional Effectiveness for possible projects, process improvement initiatives, and requests for data or surveys. Working with Institutional Research to identify data and other resources to support the overall academic planning and assessment processes.
OTHER: Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in higher education, social behavior sciences, data analytics, business, or a related field, OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and eight years of experience in higher education.
Preferred Qualifications
Two years of professional experience in coordinating higher education processes. Knowledge of Board of Regents academic policies and procedures. Knowledge of AU academic policies and procedures. Understanding of academic services needed to support academic programs. Basic understanding of academic program curricula. Basic understanding of higher education budgeting and finances. Experience in strategic and annual planning and assessment. Experience in managing small projects and with project management tools/techniques.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Knowledge and experience in higher education planning and assessment.
Knowledge and experience in student learning outcome assessment.
Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative metrics.
Basic knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research design and measurement techniques.
SKILLS
Strong written and verbal communication skills including group presentation skills.
Analytical skills.
Facilitation skills to lead small groups in planning and assessment activities.
Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop effective working relationships with senior leadership, faculty, and staff.
ABILITIES
Ability to work autonomously.
Good time management and an ability to work on and prioritize multiple projects and initiatives.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; M-F (Work outside of the standard business hours may be required)
Pay Band: B13
Salary: $68,500/annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
