Job Summary:

The University of Colorado Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our inpatient lung transplant team. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to care for lung transplant patients both during their initial hospitalization and throughout their lifetime when they require readmission. As part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, the APP will work alongside transplant pulmonologists, surgeons, pharmacists, social workers, and dietitians to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care. This role requires care of medically complex patients, post-surgical patients, and critically ill patients. This position focuses on supporting patients through their recovery and ongoing care, making a meaningful impact on their health and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

Comprehensive Patient Management: Provide direct inpatient care for lung transplant patients, including pre-transplant evaluation, perioperative management, and post-transplant care.

Rounding & Collaboration: Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds, develop treatment plans, and implement evidence-based interventions.

ICU Consults: Evaluate and manage transplant patients in the ICU in collaboration with the critical care teams.

Clinical Decision-Making: Interpret diagnostic tests, adjust immunosuppressive therapies, and manage transplant-related complications under the guidance of transplant pulmonologists.

Patient & Family Education: Counsel patients and their families on post-transplant expectations, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications.

Documentation & Communication: Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (Epic), communicate effectively with consulting teams, and provide thorough handoffs.

Process Improvement & Education: Participate in quality improvement initiatives, protocol development, and provide education to nursing staff and trainees.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Master's and/or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program

National board certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP, AGACNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C)

Active and unrestricted license to practice in Colorado (or eligibility to obtain)

DEA license or eligibility to obtain

BLS and ACLS certification

Minimum of one year of experience in transplant.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in solid organ transplant, pulmonary medicine, hospital medicine, or critical care

Excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and teamwork skills

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$112,528 to $137,634

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
