General Information:
Assistant Academic Directors (AADs) are a resource for high school students, Mentors, and the Academic Director (AD). AADs can change gears quickly and troubleshoot problems independently to implement and oversee the day-to-day logistics of their programs. The AAD is an administrative support position for the AD and Program Management Team that requires an academic professional who is reliable, responsible, flexible, and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. AADs must also possess the ability to supervise a team of Mentors throughout the summer.
Summer College Immersion Program:
The Summer College Immersion Program (SCIP) is a scholarship program for high school students from partner schools in the Kipp, Cristo Rey, and Achievement First networks across the country. This 3-week program at Georgetown provides a taste of the college experience with a mix of lectures, sample classes, off-site visits, and team building. In addition, students explore all aspects of the College search and application process.
The AAD starts in the spring to assist with program planning and development, such as organizing travel for the students, assisting with welcome materials, and prepping the final project.
