Job Summary
The Student Accounts Specialist reports directly to the Director for Student Accounts. This is a customer focused position providing service to students and their families, staff, faculty, and other members of the community while complying with established accounting policies and procedures. The Student Accounts Office provides for the accurate billing and timely collection of student tuition and fees, inclusive of third-party sponsors as well as collection, deposit, and subsequent recording of all student account deposits for the university. The Student Accounts Specialist assists the Director of Student Accounts with management of financial compliance with policies, regulations, and laws from Federal, State, Board of Regents, the University, and private sponsors.
Responsibilities
Significant Duties and Responsibilities include: Provide customer service to students, departments, and external partners; support cashiering operations including receipting invoice payments, departmental deposits, wires, returned funds, and scholarship checks; monitor, reconcile, and report on student and institutional accounts receivable, including outstanding invoices; ensure tuition, fees, billing, and approved payment plans are accurately assessed and reflected on student accounts in Banner; assist with collections and receivables follow-up; reconcile and validate departmental receipts; support the implementation, management, and reconciliation of TouchNet, eCommerce, and Marketplace platforms and associated payment systems; coordinate with the Accounting Office to ensure accurate accounting codes and financial reporting; maintain required documentation for audit and internal control purposes; and perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications include: Associate degree in an accounting related field and 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications include: Working knowledge of Ellucian Banner and PeopleSoft.
Proposed Salary
The annualized salary range for this position is $40,253 - 43,784 and includes full benefits.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include: Knowledge of Accounting principles; cashiering; banking; bookkeeping processes and procedures.; Ability to use standard office equipment, such as fax, copier, calculator and desktop computer.; Working knowledge of Microsoft products, including Excel and Word.; Organizational skills.

Conditions of Employment

- A credit check completed for Positions of Trust and or approved departmental Purchase Card usage;
