RTCC Criminal Intelligence Analyst

Job Summary

The Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC) supports the goals of public safety agencies to monitor emerging situations, prevent and reduce crime, and to promote and maintain public safety in real time. The RTCC Criminal Intelligence Analyst will work in the Real-Time Crime Center in order to support crime reduction through data analysis, comprehensive research, and investigative follow-up.

Safety is a top priority for the University of Utah. The Chief Safety Officer (CSO) for the University is the Director of Public Safety and serves as chief of police services. The CSO is responsible for overseeing the University's Department of Public Safety, which includes the following operational divisions: University Police, Campus Security, Health Security, Emergency Management, Emergency Communications, and the central administrative Office of the CSO.

Responsibilities
1. Demonstrates superior seamless customer service, integrity, and commitment to innovation, efficiency, and fiscally responsible activity.
2. Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
3. Evaluates and compiles information, selects essential elements, analyzes findings, makes interpretations, and correlates new information with existing information. Write comprehensive reports based on this data.
4. Closely works with RTCC Detectives and analyst peers to provide better analysis of data and reports. Provides written reports and verbal updates to the chain-of-command and police personnel regarding crime/crime trends.
5. Supports various investigations and crime suppression projects.
6. Reviews and completes investigative requests for the RTCC.
7. Provides data analysis on criminal activity within the precinct to help identify trends and allocate resources.
8. Identifies potential analytical issues and intelligence gaps in support of investigations and determines alternative solutions.
9. Compiles monthly reports highlighting RTCC activity throughout the Department.
10. Prepares graphs, charts (link analysis, event flow analysis, activity charting), tables, and other illustrative devices for visual presentation of data.
11. Conducts background research on criminals or suspected criminals under investigation through direct computer access or personal contact with systems and organizations. Determines criminal associations and patterns of criminal activity relating to organized crime, white-collar crime, and major conspiracies.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Two to four years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
