Summary
The Safe Communities Program Coordinator will serve as a liaison between the Ohio Traffic Safety Office and other local agencies. The Coordinator will plan and implement highway safety programs to reduce motor vehicle crashes and the fatalities, injuries and costs associated with these crashes. In addition, the coordinator is responsible for grant administration and reporting.
Essential Functions
- Work with the media, e.g., press releases and press conferences, to promote traffic safety campaigns and issues
- Keep accurate records of crash and fatality data
- Work to implement all planned community traffic safety programs and activities of the Ohio Traffic Safety Office
- Coordinate programs and projects of the Safe Communities Program
- Develop and implement an ongoing evaluation of community and school-based programs and promotions
- Write and administer grants and complete grant reporting
- Coordinate Coalition meetings, prepare agenda, record minutes, and complete any other preparation necessary for meeting
- Schedule and coordinate meetings of the Fatality Review Committee
- Attend pertinent conferences and meetings that deal with traffic safety issues
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
The following Degree is required:
- Associate's degree
- 1 year experience in coordinating of educational and/or safety programs

- Familiarity with community agencies that deal with traffic safety issues, e.g., local law enforcement, Ohio Department of Transportation
- Ability to use technology as both a productivity tool and as a method of communication; proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Office
- Ability to write press releases and reports
- Ability write and administer grants
- Ability to plan and implement programs
- Ability to keep accurate mandated records
- Ability to establish rapport with students and adults
- Ability to maintain relationships with other community agencies
Grant-Funded
This is a grant-funded position. Duration of employment is contingent on continued availability of funding.
