About the Position:

This role is an on-campus, in-person position.

The Honors & Scholars Program Coordinator supports the programs in the unit--including the University Honors, the Hilltop Scholars, the Turner Scholars, and President's Scholars programs, and the National Fellowships Office--managing and orchestrating many outward facing communications--within and outside the university. These communications involve email campaigns for admissions, alumni and donors, websites, social media and beyond. The Coordinator will also work extensively in orchestrating and implementing events for the H & S Residential Commons. In addition, the Coordinator will assist in the planning, orchestrating, and implementing of new special Honors programs. Finally, the position supports the UHP, the largest academic program--in all aspects of student records, events, and other important aspects as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Communications and reporting--assisting all Honors & Scholars programs in mapping out communications--email campaigns, and other outward facing messaging. These communication plans include admissions, websites, blogs, and social media campaigns.

  • Event planning, orchestration and execution and reporting in the Honors & Scholars Residential Commons (McElvaney), and other locations. Coordinate and facilitate RLSH and H & S staff and student workers/leaders to maintain a robust events schedule--some targeted for McElvaney residents, and some aimed at the larger H & S community --commuters, and students from other commons who are in our H & S programs.

  • Assist in planning, administering new academic programs in the H & S area. This work can include the planning stages, as well as execution. Maintaining data and reporting on these special academic programs.

  • Support the University Honors Program--assist the Director and Assistant Director in managing student records, social and academic events and other duties as needed. Maintaining data and reporting on the UHP as needed.

  • Occasional evening/weekend hours will be required for events.



Qualifications

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree is required. A Master's degree is preferred. A degree in Marketing, Communications or related degree is preferred.

A minimum of one (1) year of experience is required. Experience in a vibrant office or similar setting, as well as experience working with students is preferred. Experience working with E-marketing is also a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills.

Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills.

Candidate ability to produce comprehensive reports and data analysis is essential.

Candidate must be proficient in Excel, Word, Teams and Slate. Familiarity with basic data management and reporting is preferred.
