Job Summary
The Family Nurse Practitioner is required to work in collaboration with and under the direct and indirect supervision of a physician, utilizing mutually approved written protocols, providing primary health care to university students in the form of primary prevention, health education, women's health, assessment and treatment of health problems in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, Composite Medical Board and rules and regulations established by the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities
Significant Duties & Responsibilities include: Obtain complete, detailed and accurate histories: review patient records to develop comprehensive medical status reports: order laboratory, radiological and diagnostic studies appropriate for the condition of the patient.; Perform complete physical examinations and record pertinent data in the electronic medical record (EMR).; Analyze, interpret, and evaluate subjective and objective findings to develop an assessment in order to initiate a treatment plan or referral to appropriate physician or provider.; Collaborate/consult with the physician as indicated. Consult, refer, and collaborate with other disciplines involved in the delivery of total patient care.; Devise, implement, and evaluate plans of care, utilizing sound clinical judgments based on assessment of the physical, psychological, emotional, societal, and environmental needs of the patient.; Promote healthy living through education and primary prevention. Provide patient education regarding medications, treatments, anticipated outcomes, and referrals.; Provide appropriate documentation in the EMR.; Attend and participate in staff meetings, committee meetings and special task forces. Participate in continuous quality improvement activities of the Department of Student Affairs.; Promote collegial relationships with other clinical staff and providers in the community and in the counseling services department.; Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional growthy by involvement in continuing education, Peer review, and the review of protocols and procedures.; Maintain current licensure, national certification and Georgia Board recognition as a nurse practitioner.; Must be in compliance with the Composite Medical Board in regard to prescriptive authority and National Provider Identifier (NPI) credentials.; Maintain confidentiality of all patient medical records and follow HIPPA guidelines.; Follow all safety and other risk management policies in performance of work.; Provide all medicine in accordance with accepted practice standards of care, protocols and state licensing guidelines.; Renders first aid services as needed.; Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications include: Unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse and as a Nurse Practitioner in Georgia with prescriptive authority in collaboration with an MD as detailed in the Composite Medical Board requirements.; Provide NPI credentials.; Must have a Master's degree or higher from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a National Certification from The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners National Certification Board, The American Nurses Credentialing Center, or The National Certification Corporation.; Must have 4 years experience as a practicing Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.; Successively complete a background investigation and urine drug screening prior to employment.; Will be subject to random drug screening.
Proposed Salary
The proposed annualized salary range for this position is $87,000 - $96,000 and includes full benefits.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities include: Must be able to communicate effectively with diverse population.; Must possess basic computer skills.; Must have the ability to develop written and EMR reports in a clear and concise manner.; Must be able to manage time efficiently and effectively.; Must be able to perform accurate and thorough physical assessment including Pap smear, STD
screening, breast exam and testicular exams.; Must be able to document concise, appropriate, significant information related to patient assessment.; Must be able to educate patient on health maintenance and illness prevention practices including: care of pregnant patient in the first trimester prior to first appointment with OB/GYN provider.; Must be able to perform technical skills including: venipuncture: administration of intravenous fluids including IV push medications: obtaining and reading wet mounts: incision and drainage of wounds: dressing changes; repair of simple lacerations using suture, skin adhesive or staples; suture removal; burn care; cryo-therapy of simple warts; other minor office based surgeries; treatment of STD lesions and/or results of STD testing; obtaining cultures; nebulizer treatments and administration of oxygen.; Must be able to prescribe medications, dispense with instructions and follow up on results.; Must be able to identify emotional needs of patient and make referrals if necessary.; Must have the ability to interact in a professional manner with superior, peers and subordinates.; Must be able to collaborate with supervising physicians.; Must be able to function effectively during times of stress.; Must serve as a role model to students, peers, faculty and staff and community at large.

Conditions of Employment
