Job Description Summary
The Mainigi Laboratory in the Penn Center for Women's Health and Reproductive Medicine is looking for a summer student to help bridge the time between our current technician leaving (end of May) and our new hire starting.
The student will work on several projects related to the uterine environment and its role in the establishment of very early pregnancy. Projects will involve the isolation of human tissue samples. The student will have experience in cell culture and molecular biology, and will work with the guidance of a senior lab member.
The student will be required to assist in acquiring and processing of human tissue samples, maintaining cell lines and
performing standard molecular biology and biochemical techniques.

Job Description

Responsibilities
  • Acquire, process and store human tissue samples
  • Cell culture of multiple cell lines: Thaw, maintain and freeze different cell lines
  • Perform Molecular Biology Techniques: qRT-PCR, prepare samples for flow staining
  • Perform immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence and microscopy


Required Qualifications
  • Experience with cell culture
  • Experience with basic molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA isolation, PCR)


Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel
  • Proficiency with PRISM

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job's level.
