Utah Naloxone/ Andy's clinic has an immediate opening for a Research Coordinator, in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah Spencer F. Eccles School of Medicine.

The Research Coordinator is responsible for coordinating day-to-day research activities in accordance with Responsible Conduct for Research (RCR), study protocols, and applicable regulatory requirements. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), Project Director (PD), and Program Manager, this role supports study initiation, implementation, monitoring, and close-out activities. The Research Coordinator develops and maintains tracking tools, study documentation, metrics, and provides regular updates to leadership to ensure study objectives are met. Primary responsibilities include reviewing and abstracting data from historical medical records and charts related to pediatric overdose cases to support retrospective research analyses.
In addition to core research responsibilities, the Research Coordinator maintains organized internal records and research libraries and supports clinic operations, including data collection and administrative tasks for ongoing programs such as Andy's Clinic. This role serves as a liaison to internal departments, external partners, community organizations, and government agencies, and supports planning and execution of clinic-based and community outreach events. The Research Coordinator also provides education to clients and community members on naloxone use and overdose prevention, including risk reduction strategies, contributing to effective engagement and continuity of care across research and community programs.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions:Coordinate day-to-day research activities in adherence to Responsible Conduct for Research (RCR), study protocols, and applicable regulations. Implement processes and organize efforts within study team to achieve objectives, coordinate activities, and support research study initiation and close out. Conduct pre-study site visits, monitoring or other site visits at locations or sites participating in the study. Create and maintain tools and documentation to track study procedures, protocols, and metrics, providing updates to management. Maintain source documents and report adverse events. Recruit, screen, enroll, and obtain consent from study participants. Collect and maintain study participant data and other forms of study data. Work directly with study participants and serve as project liaison to other departments, outside organizations, and government agencies. Works under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), Project Director (PD), and Program Manager.
  1. Coordinate day-to-day research activities in adherence to Responsible Conduct for Research (RCR), study protocols, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  2. Implement and manage research processes and workflows to support study initiation, execution, monitoring, and close-out activities.
  3. Coordinate study team efforts to ensure milestones, timelines, and deliverables are met; provide regular status updates and metrics to leadership.
  4. Create, maintain, and manage study tools, trackers, source documentation, regulatory binders, and internal research libraries.
  5. Ensure accurate collection, entry, maintenance, and quality assurance of study participant data and study-related documentation.
  6. Reviewing and abstracting data from historical medical records and charts related to pediatric overdose cases.
  7. Support clinic operations by assisting with data collection, documentation, and administrative tasks for ongoing programs (e.g., Andy's Clinic).
  8. Coordinate and participate in community outreach, health education initiatives, substance-use support services, and clinic- or community-based programs.
  9. Assist with coordination of client referrals to community resources, including housing, food assistance, transportation, and social services.
  10. Perform other research-related duties as assigned to support program objectives.
  11. Works under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), Project Director (PD), and Program Manager.



Research Coordinator (Non-R.N.), IRequires basic skill set and proficiency. Conducts work assignments as directed. Closely supervised with little latitude for independent judgment.
Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) with up to 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.This is an Entry-Level position in the General Professional track.Job Code: P58661Grade: P11

Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Research Coordinator (Non-R.N.), I: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.
