Mentorship and Student Engagement (MSE) was established in 2018 and aims to provide education, training, and programming to foster belonging and success in the Augusta University community. Our office collaborates with departments, colleges, and student organizations to promote our Augusta University values.
We advance student success and belonging through high-impact practices, targeted student success initiatives, and co-curricular engagement opportunities to build cultural competency.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Mentorship and Student Engagement, the Coordinator will assist in the development and implementation of programs and services that promote student access, achievement, and a sense of belonging. Primarily, this professional will be responsible for the facilitation of intercultural campus-wide programming and cultural student leadership development workshops/trainings. This position will work with numerous student organizations to establish educational programs and services that positively impact cultural student organizational engagement and success.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
SERVE AS A RESOURCE FOR UNDERREPRESENTED STUDENTS: Serve as a resource for underrepresented students regarding academic, personal, and social needs by assisting in the coordination of the Multicultural Mentorship Program and other relevant office initiatives.
DEVELOP, IMPLEMENT, AND ASSESS CAMPUS-WIDE: Develop, implement, and assess campus-wide programming initiatives to include cultural awareness, cross-cultural learning, celebrations, and heritage months.
ADVISE MULTIPLE CULTURAL STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS: Advise multiple student organizations and assist students in the planning, production, and assessment of programs, and negotiating contractual offers with agents.
ASSIST IN THE CREATION: Assist in the creation, advisement, and coordination of the Peer Education program. Conduct social justice and student leadership development workshops supporting students from underrepresented student populations throughout campus as needed.
SUPERVISE MSE GRADUATE: Supervise Mentorship and Student Engagement graduate assistant(s).
RESPOND TO STUDENT CRISIS RELATED TO DIVERSITY: Respond to student crisis related to access, success, and belonging, and other critical issues concerning underrepresented student populations. Coordinate with the Director of MSE and the AVP for Student Affairs as appropriate.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years of experience in a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree preferred in higher education administration, college student personnel, or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Knowledgeable with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, general administrative duties, programming, and knowledge of student organizational operations
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize
ABILTIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; M-F (Work outside of the standard business hours may be required).
Pay Grade: B8
Salary: $45,400/annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
