College/Department Information

The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia treats adults and children with ear, nose, and throat disorders, with emphasis on thyroid and parathyroid surgery, head & neck cancer, neck masses, endoscopic sinus surgery, otology, cochlear implants, plastic surgery, sleep surgery, skull base surgery, voice disorders, adult dysphagia, and complex airway reconstruction.

Our faculty are devoted to the education and development of outstanding clinicians according to core competencies of patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning, communication, professionalism, and systems-based practice. The five-year Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery residency program offers a broad range of clinical and academic experiences designed to produce world class otolaryngologists and includes intensive exposure to the medical and surgical management of all facets of our specialty. State-of-the-art research facilities, a collaborative research environment, and outstanding clinical resources place the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University at the leading edge of new scientific advancements. The department is currently conducting over 40 studies, and in the last five years has published over 140 papers, establishing it as one of the leading institutions for research. Our research is supported by the NIH and other external sponsors; it includes both basic and clinical investigation in all major areas of otolaryngology.

Job Summary

The incumbent in this position is responsible for the daily oversight, coordination, and management of the residency program and fellowship activities; supports the Residency Program Director by handling day-to-day operations of the residency program, maintaining regulatory documentation for the program, and managing the residents and fellows assigned. Duties include, but are not limited to: management of budgets, coordinating resident interviews, monitoring of resident activities and coordination with agencies that provide oversight of the residency program (GME office, ABOto, ACGME, NRMP, ERAS). Administrative responsibilities for the Residency Program Director to include administrative support, academic support, CME activities, and travel coordination, correspondence, assisting with credentialing and licensing packets; planning and coordinating CME symposia/graduation and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

The duties include but are not limited to:

OVERSEE RESIDENCY PROGRAM: Coordinate and manage all functions for the department's residency program to include daily oversight, coordination and management of the residency program and fellowship activities. Handling day-to-day operations of the residency program, maintaining regulatory documentation for the program and managing the residents and fellows assigned. Duties include, but are not limited to: management of budgets, candidate interviewing and selection, monitoring of resident activities and coordination with agencies that provide oversight of the residency program (GME office, ABOto, ACGME, NRMP, ERAS).

SERVE AS ADMIN. ASSISTANT TO PROGRAM DIRECTOR: Serve as administrative assistant to the Residency Program Director. Activities include phone coverage, correspondence, preparation/planning for meetings and events to include CME activities, maintaining calendars, assisting with teaching material preparation, travel and lodging arrangements, travel authorization and expense statement processing, assisting with credentialing and licensing packets, and other duties as assigned.

COORDINATE CME SYMPOSIA: Coordinate CME Symposia (Porubsky Symposium/Chief Resident Graduation). Activities include, but are not limited to coordinating speakers and agenda, recruiting vendor sponsorship, facilitating event setup and breakdown, organizing annual golf tournament, and coordinating graduation ceremonies.

COORDINATE NON-ACGME FELLOW RECRUITMENT: Coordinate non-ACGME fellow recruitment efforts, onboarding, orientation and out-processing.

OTHER: Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of educational program or similar experience OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and four years professional or administrative experience to include minimum of two years of educational program experience or similar experience. OR High school diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization and seven years professional or administrative experience to include minimum of four years of educational program experience or similar experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced formal education beyond Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in business and accounting. Experience in an academic medical center and/or GME. Experience with One45 or New Innovations.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.

ABILITIES

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; M-F

Pay Band: B7

Salary: $20.29/hourly - $25.34/hourly

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
