Job Description Summary

The Digital Communications & Web Manager is responsible for managing and enhancing the organization's digital presence through website administration, social media engagement, and strategic digital communications. This role oversees website content within the LiveWhale content management system, develops compelling social media and marketing campaigns, and creates engaging digital content that supports institutional priorities, events, and initiatives. The ideal candidate is a creative and detail-oriented communicator with strong writing, technical, and project management skills who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is passionate about digital storytelling, audience engagement, and maintaining a consistent and impactful brand presence to help drive enrollment and philanthropy.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Marketing, Communications and Events, the Digital Communications and Web Manager is responsible for the development, deployment, and management of marketing campaigns and web pages for Penn Nursing's academic programs. The Manager will work with numerous colleagues and units and must be excellent at cross-functional collaboration, project management, and verbal and written communication. Responsibilities include deployment and oversight of advertising campaigns across multiple platforms and channels, email campaigns through Slate CRM, with the Admissions Department, and an email marketing platform, campaign performance reporting, email and landing page templates, and A/B testing. The person in this role will be responsible for working with a creative team on the development of engaging and effective ads, collateral, and communications. Website responsibilities will include oversight of academic program web pages, optimizing web pages for conversion, use of Google Tag Manager, data analysis through Google Analytics and Google Data Studio, Meta and LinkedIn, and A/B testing for continual improvement. The Manager will liaise with colleagues in the Office of Admissions for enrollment marketing campaign planning and also the development team to determine audience and key messaging development, as well as program feasibility.

Job Description

REPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

Digital Marketing

  • Develop and implement digital marketing strategies that support institutional priorities, events, academic programs, and recruitment initiatives.

  • Manage and execute multiple digital marketing and advertising campaigns with varying timelines, including audience development, website updates, creative asset coordination, campaign implementation, and performance analysis.

  • Support email marketing campaigns, promotional outreach, and audience communications.

  • Coordinate with the branding and creative team to develop digital assets, including graphics, photography, video, and web content.

  • Monitor campaign performance and engagement metrics, providing regular progress updates, final reports, and recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate closely with communications, marketing, and leadership teams to ensure consistent messaging, brand alignment, and successful execution of strategic initiatives.

Project Management

  • Lead digital and marketing projects from conception through completion, including planning, execution, monitoring, reporting, and post-project evaluation.

  • Utilize project management tools and best practices to coordinate workflows, prioritize tasks, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

  • Manage project timelines, quality standards, and resources while balancing competing priorities across multiple initiatives.

  • Facilitate project debriefs and after-action reviews to identify successes, lessons learned, and opportunities to improve future campaigns and processes.

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure project milestones, deliverables, and communication remain aligned throughout the project lifecycle.

Website Management

  • Manage and update website content using White Whale / LiveWhale CMS

  • Build and maintain webpages, news stories, profiles, event listings, and multimedia content

  • Ensure website content is accurate, accessible, user-friendly, and aligned with brand standards

  • Monitor website performance and recommend improvements for usability and engagement

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders on web updates and digital projects

Social Media & Digital Communications

  • Develop, schedule, and publish social media content across platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, and YouTube

  • Create engaging digital campaigns that support organizational priorities, events, programs, and initiatives

  • Assist with content planning, copywriting, and visual storytelling

  • Monitor analytics and engagement metrics to inform strategy and improve performance

  • Support livestreams, video promotion, and digital event coverage as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree with at least three years in communications, marketing, journalism, digital media, or related field

  • Experience managing websites using White Whale / LiveWhale or similar CMS platforms

  • Creative thinker and team player, possessing integrity, discretion, and excellent judgment. Brings a positive attitude and willingness to help other team members. ?

  • Strong understanding of social media strategy and digital marketing best practices

  • Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills

  • Experience using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools

  • High skill level and experience with SEO/SEM, website funnel design, Slate or other CRM, Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Meta, LinkedIn, and Data Studio

  • Familiarity with analytics tools, SEO principles, and email marketing platforms preferred

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work collaboratively across teams

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in higher education, healthcare, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations

  • Photography/video editing experience a plus

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

  • Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job's level.
