Position Description
Help to set up, facilitate, and tear down clinical and professional skills labs of the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine (TTU SVM). Monitor the condition of the teaching models and help with routine maintenance. Adherence to robust safety practices and compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations are responsibilities of all employees.

About the Department and/or College
The technician will help to set up, facilitate, and tear down clinical and professional skills labs of the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine (TTU SVM). They will assist in the training and coordination of Simulated Clients for the Professional Skills program, which includes rubric and skills training as well as case performance training. They will monitor the condition of the teaching models and help with routine maintenance. They will assist veterinary technicians as needed. The Clinical and Professional Skills Staff will work with veterinary faculty, staff, and students to encourage education and advance the hands-on curriculum.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Assist veterinary faculty and staff in set up, facilitation, and tear down of clinical and professional skills labs.
  • Assist with preparation of items for laboratories, including handouts, pre-lab videos, and other instructional materials.
  • Monitor quantity and condition of existing models and supplies, and help provide routine maintenance.
  • Maintain clinical and professional skills laboratories and storage closets in a clean and organized manner.
  • Cross train on the use of the professional skills CAE Healthcare software.
  • Assist in the training of Simulated Clients with TTUHSC and SIMCentral.
  • Assist in managing inventory for supplies used in clinical and professional skills.
  • Routinely lift 50 pounds or less independently.
  • Support veterinary technicians as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent required. Promote and foster the Core Values of the School of Veterinary Medicine.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to use basic and advanced computer software and imaging equipment.
  • Experience in veterinary and/or human medical fields.
  • Experience and/or certification with safety procedures, personal protective equipment, and inspection protocols.
  • Acting or performance experience.
  • Communication skills or public speaking training.
  • Acting knowledge or experience.


Pay Range
4 - $16.39 - $21.30 - $26.25
