Job Summary
Clinical Data Managers
- Perform data extraction, transformation, validation, and cleaning from multiple data sources.
- Maintain data dictionaries, data management plans, and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure the integrity, security, and confidentiality of data throughout the data lifecycle.
- Manage data imports, exports, merges, and transfers between systems.
- Develop routine and ad hoc reports, dashboards, and data visualizations.
- Prepare statistical summaries and performance metrics.
- Support program evaluation, quality improvement initiatives, and outcomes assessments.
- Collaborate with investigators and research staff to support study design, data collection, and analysis.
- Conduct data quality reviews and prepare datasets for publication and presentation.
- Participate in manuscript preparation, abstracts, and research presentations as appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with VA, VHA, HIPAA, federal, and local policies governing data management and security.
- Provide consultation regarding data collection methods, reporting capabilities, and data interpretation.
- Utilize database and analytic software such as SQL, SAS, R, Stata, Python, SPSS, REDCap, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Excel, or similar tools.
- Troubleshoot data issues and resolve discrepancies.

Responsibilities

Build, review, and maintain clinical databases, data collection tools, and applications. Create, review, and maintain study documentation, such as Case Report Forms (CRFs) and Data Transfer Agreements (DTAs). Contribute to protocol development and review. Compile, analyze, clean, and validate clinical trial data. Identify and resolve discrepancies and issues with clinical data. Develop data management reports and monitor study status to ensure timelines are met. Represent the data management function to key internal and external stakeholders. Work collaboratively with clinical research and operations team to ensure accurate and complete data collection. Requires basic skill set and proficiency. Conducts work assignments as directed. Closely supervised with little latitude for independent judgment.

Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Clinical Data Manager, I: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree. Clinical Data Manager, II: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience. Clinical Data Manager, III: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.
Preferences
Preference will be given to those who have experience working within a data related role at the Veteran's Affair's system, and currently approved to work within the VA system.
