The Slone Epidemiology Center at Boston University invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Associate position in health disparities and neuroepidemiology. We seek motivated candidates with relevant training and research experience to join the investigative team of the Strong Heart Study (SHS) programs on cerebrovascular and Alzheimer's diseases, with a particular focus on cognitive and psychological resilience. The SHS is a longitudinal cohort spanning 35+ years, representing adults from 13 American Indian Tribes and communities across 3 U.S. regions, and is the largest such cohort of vascular disease and related conditions in this population. This postdoctoral associate position will provide training and research opportunities within the field of neuroepidemiology, with a focus on cognitive aging, risk, and resilience; vascular and Alzheimer's dementias; and community-based participatory research.

The Slone Epidemiology Center is located on the Boston University (BU) Medical Campus and includes faculty from both the School of Public Health and the School of Medicine. We have strong research collaborations across multiple BU departments and schools as well as the adjacent Boston Medical Center, a regional safety-net hospital. Additional research resources are available through Boston University Clinical and Translational Science Institute, the BU-BMC Research Center, the Biospecimen Archive Research Core, and more.

Minimum qualifications include a doctoral degree in epidemiology or a related field (e.g., human biology, molecular biology, statistical genetics, biostatistics), with a track record of scholarship and scientific productivity in the form of peer-reviewed publications. Ideal candidates will demonstrate potential for extramural research funding. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to ongoing research programs as indicated above, and to develop independent research opportunities in collaboration with other SHS and Slone investigators.
