Job Summary
The University of Michigan Shared Services Center (U-M SSC) is a customer service organization where the employees are passionate about providing a high quality customer service experience to the university community. The SSC offers key financial and human resource transaction services to customers through consistent processes and enabling technology.

Reporting to the Accounting Services Customer Service Team Supervisor, the Accounting Customer Service Associate serves as a critical member of the Accounting Team. Each Associate is responsible for processing Chartfield (Chart of Accounts) Maintenance transactions received by the SSC for the University. The associate position is 80% transactional/data entry and will be expected to complete work tasks accurately and in a customer focused manner.

Responsibilities*
  • Ability to apply University of Michigan policies and procedures as they relate to the Accounting Customer Service function
  • Maintain and process sponsored research and non-sponsored chartfield requests
  • Review and upload sponsored budgets
  • Modify and maintain sponsored trees (department structures in our financial system)
  • Maintain and process daily all new sponsor project requests and sponsor code modifications
  • Manage assigned worklist maintained in our Service Management tracking system and use appropriate means to contact customers via email and/or phone when additional information is sought
  • Provide guidance to internal customers, listen, and answer questions in a timely fashion as they arise

Required Qualifications*
Education:
  • High School diploma

Experience:
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently while delivering quality work
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and Google applications
  • Ability to be adaptable and embrace change as business needs arise
