Applications Programmer Analyst II

Primary Function:
The Applications Programmer Analyst II performs systems and program analysis, design, development, implementation, and support of technical solutions, interfaces, and applications.

This position uses detailed programming logic and coding languages to create new programs and modifications to existing programs based on customer needs.

This position executes testing and debugging of new programs and applications prior to implementing the program into the DoIT (Division of Information Technology) infrastructure.

This position provides, coordinates or leads third-party application support including implementation, design, and development of interfaces, troubleshooting, and communication with vendor support.

This position applies upgrades and new releases to ensure up-to-date and efficient operability. This position documents user procedures, program maintenance procedures, and coding details to ensure proper systems functioning and aid in the ongoing support and maintenance of production applications.

This position provides development, troubleshooting, coordination of upgrades, and maintenance of Cascade Server, AIMS Parking, Transact, Blackboard Learn and custom web applications at NIU. Must provide off-hour on-call support when required.

7. Performs Other Duties as Assigned

Minimum Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelors Degree in Information Technology (IT) or a closely related.
2. Two (2) years of progressively more responsible work experience in design, development/programming, implementation and testing of technical solutions to support software applications and systems.
3. Two (2) years of C# .NET Framework or related application development environments.
4. One (1) year of demonstrated experience in relational databases and SQL.
5. Demonstrated experience in IIS or Windows Server administration.

Education and Experience Preferred:
1. Masters degree or higher in MIS, Computer Science, or closely related field of study.
2. Three (3) years of C# .NET Framework or Java application development work experience.
3. Two (2) years of demonstrated experience in relational databases and SQL.
4. Two (2) years of demonstrated experience in IIS or Windows Server administration.

Working Hours: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
