Assistant Professor

Primary Purpose of Position:
The primary purpose of the position is to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Kinesiology and Aquatics ( i.e. aquatics, lifeguarding, sport, motor control, and other related courses). Conduct research and seek external funding, engage in scholarly activities, participate in department/college curricular and programmatic development. Serve on committees at all levels of the University, serve as an academic advisor, and develop community and interdisciplinary collaborations.

Minimum Education/Experience:
PhD

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Applicants must provide evidence of
  • an earned doctorate with at least one academic degree in Kinesiology or a closely related field.
  • credentials to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Kinesiology through various modes of delivery including face-to-face, hybrid, and online.
  • ability to conduct and publish original research in the areas of Kinesiology, Aquatics, or other related fields
  • experience in or the potential for seeking and securing external funding
  • experience working with students from multicultural backgrounds and a strong commitment to promoting diversity.
  • professional work experience that includes demonstrated capacity for collaborative engagement with diverse community partners.
  • experience in recruiting, advising, and mentoring students at both the undergraduate & graduate levels, contributing to their academic and professional development.




  • Educational and Professional Qualifications: Possession of an earned doctorate in Kinesiology or a closely related field.
  • Teaching Experience: Experience in teaching at the university level in subjects such as kinesiology, aquatics, motor control, and other related areas. Ability to teach in various modalities, including online, hybrid, and face-to-face formats.
  • Research Capabilities: Demonstrated evidence of capability and commitment to pursue a well-defined research agenda in Kinesiology or a related field.
  • Cultural Competency and Diversity: Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in working with students from multi-cultural backgrounds and a strong commitment to diversity.
  • Curriculum Development: Evidence of experience in developing online courses and programs at both undergraduate and graduate levels in Kinesiology, and Aquatics.
  • Student Mentorship and Recruitment: Demonstrated ability to recruit, advise, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Laboratory and Equipment Management: Skills in restructuring and utilizing the human performance laboratory and equipment effectively for learning and research.
  • Professional Engagement: Active participation in and certification from professional organizations related to Kinesiology.
