Athletics Marketing Graduate Assistant

General Summary:
The Athletics Marketing Graduate Assistant works in tandem with the Assistant Director of Marketing and Promotions to increase fan attendance, fan engagement, positive brand awareness and enhance community relations for FGCU Athletics' 15 Division 1 sports. This position assists the marketing team to plan and coordinate the student fan group, the FGCU Dirty Birds, and marquee events including Eagle Revolution, a 2,500+ person event hosted during the FGCU Week of Welcome in August as well as all other major department events.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Writes game day event scripts for assigned sports.
  • Provides input and supports marketing plan creation and implementation for assigned sports
  • Manages in game marketing promotions at assigned sports.
  • Collaborates with athletics staff, coaches and student-athletes as well as university liaisons to accomplish marketing plan and department goals.
  • Assists with sales and memberships of the student fan group.
  • Supports athletics staff to provide excellent customer service and manages client relations.
  • Attends appearances with Azul the Eagle, the official mascot of FGCU Athletics.
  • Assists in operating the FGCU Dirty Birds and Azul the Eagle social media accounts.
  • Serves on Marketing and Events strategy team.
  • Conducts market research and database management activities.
  • Implements sponsorship activations at Athletics events.
  • Assists with supervision of student workers and community service volunteers.
  • Assists with website updates and analytics.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.

Enrolled as a graduate student at Florida Gulf Coast University at the time of hire and throughout employment in role.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or experience in public relations, sports management, sales or marketing. Experience in Sports marketing, street team promotions and web and social media management. Experience and skill in graphic design, Adobe Photoshop and or InDesign.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of social media platforms and ability to implement social media campaigns.

Knowledge of budget control principles, practices and procedures.

Knowledge of marketing principles, including promotion, fundraising, and public relations.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.

Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to think critically and make clear, well-reasoned and timely decisions.

Ability to effectively manage the work of others by providing information, guidance and motivation.

Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends as necessary.

Compensation
$15,000 towards tuition
