Position Summary
University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry is seeking applicants for the position of Clinic Cashier at the Bowden Eye Care and Health Center located at 2547 E. Commerce Street. Primary responsibilities include patient check out, payment collections, appointment scheduling and daily balancing. This is a full-time position where duties and responsibilities will evolve as the clinic network expands. UIWRSO personnel will be subject to the leave and holiday policies of the Rosenberg School of Optometry and it's clinical services, which may differ from those of UIW.

Description of Job Duties
Collects patient payments in the form of cash and credit cards. Enters charges and claim information into EMR. Submits claims to the billing department

Description of Job Duties
Balances cash and credit card payments against daily deposit reports. Must maintain a balanced cash drawer at all times.

Front Desk Support

Description of Job Duties
Assists with the patient check in process. Answers phones and makes patient appointments. Verifies patient insurance eligibility and benefits.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Good communication and organizational skills are essential. Must demonstrate sound judgment and attention to detail. The ability to maintain confidentiality and work under pressure are required. The position requires the skills to interact with the public and fellow co-workers with respect. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education
High School Diploma or GED.

Required Work Experience
One year of related work experience as a cashier in a clinical setting. Proficiency in electronic medical records is essential. A basic understanding of clinical operations and HIPAA guidelines are expected.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience as a cashier in an optometry practice and some college course work is preferred. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

Work Hours
Work hours are 9am-6pm Tuesday- Saturday. Work hours are subject to change based on the needs of the clinic and school for each semester. The hours and location for this position may change depending on the needs of the clinic or school.
