Job Title: Clinical Science Professional (Entry – Intermediate Level)

Job Summary:

This Research Services Clinical Science Professional will be part of the Department of Medicine's Division of Geriatric Medicine, more specifically in the IMAGE (Investigations in Metabolism, Aging, Gender and Exercise) group. This is a research position with primary duties being to conduct research in cardiac, vascular, metabolism, aging, gender, and exercise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete data entry in RedCAP and/or other platforms per protocol.
  • Maximize retention of study participants through engaging and courteous communication whether in person, by phone or text, or in writing.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports for study team meetings and regulatory reviews.
  • Attend weekly research meetings and other staff meetings as needed.
  • Complete required regulatory documents and obtain necessary approvals from on campus administrative bodies (e.g., SARC, COMIRB).
  • Maintain OnCore Clinical Trials Management and clinicaltrials.gov profiles.
  • Must be flexible in daily routine and hours, including ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Entry Level:
  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, integrative physiology, exercise/applied physiology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Intermediate Level:
  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, integrative physiology, exercise/applied physiology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
  • One (1) year clinical research or related experience.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree in biological sciences, integrative physiology, exercise/applied physiology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of clinical research or related experience.
  • Experience with managing clinical research studies.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Must pass required research compliance courses (CITI and HIPAA training).
  • Must possess (or able to obtain) basic life support (BLS) certification and maintain certification throughout employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.
  • Basic knowledge of data management, collection, quality control and analysis methods.
  • Proficient with computer software including RedCap, OnCore, Microsoft Teams, Word, Outlook, Excel and Zoom.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to develop a solid rapport with others.
  • Familiarity weighing chemicals and performing concentration and dilution calculations.
  • Compassion and experience working with research volunteers.
  • Ability to represent the University, Department, and Division, internally and externally, in a professional and positive manner.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range for this position has been established at the following:

Entry Level: $47,084 – $59,891

Intermediate Level: $51,239 – $65,176

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
