Director of the Annual Fund
Simmons College
Simmons College is seeking a talented strategist and skilled manager to lead its annual fund program
About Simmons College
For more than a century, Simmons has linked social justice, leadership, and interprofessional collaboration with professional preparation. As a result, the Simmons advancement effort is imbued with potential that is as broad as the school's disciplines, including STEM and STEAM collaborations and spanning health care, public policy, business, social work, journalism, computer, data and library sciences, and the humanities. Today, the school has more than 50,000 alumnae/i across the country and all over the world.
Simmons leadership has invested in innovation that honors its mission and responds to the needs of the 21st Century. Undergraduate students benefit from a curriculum taking full advantage of a location in the heart of New England; Boston is Simmons' laboratory. The graduate programs delivered on-line are expanding, allowing students from all 50 states and from Israel to benefit from John Simmons' 19th Century idea to create an institution that would be accessible and help women prepare to earn an independent livelihood.
An ambitious restructuring of the university's academic units is also on the near horizon, intended to foster inter-disciplinary and inter-professional collaborations through programmatic synergies and incorporating the creative re-design of physical space. The innovative vision and energetic leadership that is imbedded in the Simmons' culture provides students with life changing opportunities, and ongoing philanthropic support plays a significant role in this fulfillment of the College's historic mission.
Philanthropy at Simmons College
Simmons is in the midst of an exciting period of innovation and change that has generated increased strength financially, academically, and operationally. In turn, new investments in philanthropy are aligned with the school's vision of the future and strategic priorities. Partnership with the Board and the President in the advancement effort is extraordinary, and complemented by a committed and engaged faculty. Faculty initiatives and special projects are continuing priorities. Because the majority of individual donors to the college are women, engagement strategies specific to this affinity group are a key priority. Additionally, student financial aid remains the priority funding option. Bold changes in the structure of academic units, curriculum development and physical space on campus are presenting a myriad of fundraising opportunities to be developed, categorized, valued and solicited.
Simmons recently completed a comprehensive $100M capital campaign, the largest in the College's history. The Annual Fund generates $3.5-$4M annually, and there are ambitious goals to increase unrestricted funding and to broaden the base of support from alumni and friends.
