Job Description:
In coordination with the Dean of the College of Education, the Director of the Center for Educator Partnerships & Student Support, and the advising staff, the director will provide leadership, vision and direction for college level recruitment and retention with specific emphasis on students of color. The director will work across all levels of the university and with external partners to build and sustain a culture of academic support and retention to help underrepresented students thrive at the university. This position plays a key role in ensuring the college prepares educators who meet the needs of P-12 students and is the lead for Teachers of Tomorrow (ToT), a comprehensive support program that helps students navigate academic, licensure and graduation requirements. The director is also responsible for identifying new initiatives and work priorities to meet the goal of reducing the impact of barriers to student success and to build strong relationships with students from recruitment to graduation.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Education or a related filed and four or more years of professional experience in teaching, education, leadership, or outreach.



  • Demonstrated ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds.

  • Experience working in the areas of racial equity and social justice.

  • Experience in strategic program planning and implementation, leading change management and process improvement methods.

  • Excellent written, oral, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.



Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.



  • Masters Degree in Education or a related field with a minimum of three years of professional experience.

  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environment.

  • Acute understanding of the critical need to recruit and retain teachers of color into the profession.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of effective recruitment, admissions, and retention in higher education including high impact student success practices.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across divisions and colleges with personnel at all levels.



Other Requirements:
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.

Requires some overnight travel and evening/weekend work.

Drivers license required.

Based on the essential functions of this positions, MMB Policy #1422, and University policies relating to flexible work, this position is eligible for the following work modes: Up to 20% of the time.
