We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Health Education Coordinator

The Health Education Coordinator will engage in health education, promotion, and programming on topics such as sexual assault prevention, STD prevention, hazing prevention, mental health promotion, alcohol, healthy relationships, stress management techniques, and more. The position will utilize research-based approaches and strategies to facilitate behavior change among the student population. Additionally, the Health Education Coordinator will supervise and coordinate peer health advisors, student employees, and volunteers.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in health education, health promotion, public health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in health education, wellness promotion, public health, or in a prevention specialist capacity.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in public speaking, including delivering presentations to small and large groups.
  • Experience working in a college or university setting.
  • Previous involvement in peer education, leadership, or mentoring programs.
  • Involvement with community coalitions or other groups focusing on health and wellness.
  • Knowledge or expertise in one or more target areas such as sexual assault prevention, STD prevention, hazing, mental health promotion, etc.
  • Active participation in professional organizations.
  • Demonstrated interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility, and/or diversity.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in health education, health promotion, public health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of work experience in health education, wellness promotion, public health, or in a prevention specialist capacity

Responsibility / Duty: PROVIDE HEALTH EDUCATION AND PROGRAMMING
  • Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based health promotion strategies, policies, programs, and services based on campus needs and priorities.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders on and off campus to contribute to a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to health for students.
  • Practice cultural humility and incorporate social justice concepts and principles into health promotion processes.
  • Research best practices, issues, and model programs related to target areas.
  • Implement research-based approaches/strategies to promote behavior change among the student population.
  • Deliver presentations as part of campus activities.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with appropriate departments and offices across campus.
  • Participate in coalition building.
  • Support related peer health education and leadership programs.

Responsibility / Duty: SUPERVISE STUDENT VOLUNTEERS, INTERNS, AND OTHER STUDENT-BASED ASSISTANCE.
  • Recruit student employees and volunteers.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and supervision for student staff.
  • Oversee the peer health education team.
  • Contribute to social media platforms and oversee student design of social media content.

Responsibility / Duty: PERFORM ADMINISTRATIVE AND LIAISON DUTIES RELATED TO TARGETED AREAS.
  • Record and report statistical data as required/requested, including collecting and disseminating surveys/survey information.
  • Attend staff meetings and engage in professional development activities.
  • Establish relationships and act as a liaison with on- and off-campus resources, such as community service agencies.
  • Maintain knowledge of community and campus resources and refer students to appropriate campus or community resources.

Conditions of Employment:
This is an 100% time, 12-months per year position. Local travel will be required, as well as occasional evenings/weekend hours.

Position requires use of a personal vehicle when performing job duties; proof of insurance and a valid drivers license are required for this position; mileage for use of personal vehicle for completion of job duties will be reimbursed at the approved state rates.

Selected candidate must be able to lift unassisted boxes of promotional materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value, as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.

All new employees must comply with EWU Immunization Policy 602-02 and provide proof of immunity or vaccination to MMR before beginning work at EWU. Waivers for the immunization requirements are available for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs.
This position is covered by the Public School Employees Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Salary Information: The salary for this position is $55,000.
