Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Department Information

The Department of Technical Communication and Interactive Design offers the Bachelor of Science in Interactive Design (IAD). The IAD program addresses the need for emerging competencies in user interface design and user experience design. Using an interdisciplinary, hands-on approach, the IAD degree develops the technical, theoretical, and creative skills needed to meet the demands of new, digitally-centered careers.

Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a pool of open rank, part-time Interactive Design faculty positions in the Department of Technical Communication and Interactive Design for the academic year 2023-2024. These positions are on an as needed basis. Rank is determined at the time of hiring and will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

Areas of specialization include teaching undergraduate classes in some of the follow areas:
  • Teaching basic and advanced techniques in Figma
  • Teaching basic visual design skills to interaction design students
  • Teaching interaction design methods (Goal-Directed Design, Lean UX)
  • Teaching psychological theories of UI design (Fitt's Law, Jacob's Law, Hick's Law, et cetera)

Responsibilities include:
  • Student teaching
  • Working with a diverse community

Assignments to faculty in the pool are based on departmental needs and are for one or two courses per semester. Applicants may be asked to teach in various modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, and online).

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications

An earned Masters or Doctorate, or the foreign equivalent, in interaction design, graphic design, design, multimedia design, product design, visual communication, or related field is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Record of past teaching at the undergraduate level.
