Job Summary

The Donaldson Lab at University of Colorado Boulder (www.zdonaldsonlab.com) is seeking a post-doctoral fellow to work on several funded projects related to the neural basis of pair bonds. Existing approaches in the lab include cellular-resolution calcium imaging during assessment of social behavior, photometry mediated real-time measurement of neuromodulators, opto- and chemo-genetics, activity-dependent labeling, and functional genetic approaches (CRISPRa/i). The successful candidate will work on projects examining multi-animal social behavior with simultaneous neural recordings. Experience with animal handling, rodent behavioral assays, intracranial stereotactic surgery, transcardial perfusion, tissue sectioning, and experience with python, matlab, and/or R is sought, but training opportunities are also available. The successful applicant is expected to have excellent organizational abilities, be able to work independently, and exhibit strong interpersonal skills. Start date is flexible, but ideally no later than December 2024. We are an interdisciplinary lab housed within the Department of Molecular, Cellular & Developmental Biology and the Department of Psychology & Neuroscience at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Our lab studies the mechanistic basis for individual differences in behavior and how these impact likelihood to develop mental illness. Our work utilizes prairie voles, mice, and post-mortem human tissue, in advanced neurogenetic and circuit-level analysis to better understand how genes and environment shape who we are.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

$52,000 - $65,000 annually based on knowledge and experience.
