Contributes to the university's mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit. The College of Education at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month Research Assistant professor position to begin September 1, 2024.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Collaborate with faculty across academic domains to connect faculty and proposed project ideas to appropriate funding sources and agencies.
  • Identify funding research for proposals and cycles focused on university strategic research initiatives to support consistent project development and funding proposal submissions.
  • Assess proposed project fit to specific funding agencies and requests for proposals and provide detailed feedback and revision suggestions to principal investigators.
  • Conduct reviews of funding proposals and provide critical feedback concerning methodology, feasibility, and sustainability.
  • Confirm that all grant requirements/elements are addressed by funding proposals.
  • Edit proposals for writing style, organization, and clarity.
  • Remain visible and accessible to faculty and regularly communicate availability.
  • Lead professional development opportunities for faculty, graduate students, and postdoctoral scholars related to proposal writing, research development, and seeking funding.


Required Qualifications
In line with TTUs strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels in the area of research.
  • A doctorate in an area closely related to one or more research domains found in the College of Education.
  • Experience writing grant proposals for federal agencies, state agencies, and/or foundations.
  • Demonstrated or potential ability to effectively match research projects to federal, state, and local funding sources and agencies.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications
  • At least three years of independent research experience, including the post-doctoral training period.
  • Experience mentoring others on research projects and related activities across academic domains.
  • Experience serving as a principal investigator or co-principal investigator on multiple grants funded by different federal and state agencies (e.g., NIH, NSF, IES).
  • Experience serving as a principal investigator or co-principal investigator on projects funded by private foundations.
  • Experience serving as a reviewer of research proposals/manuscripts for funding agencies/editorial boards and providing detailed feedback.
  • Proficiency in using multiple methodologies evidenced in publications and/or grant-funded projects.
  • Consistent record of proposal submission and/or research activity.
  • Practice/work experience in an area of education (e.g., K-12, higher education, professional training, etc.) that supports assessment of feasibility of grant project implementation.
