Position Summary:
This position will work closely with the grant PI, Dr. Courtney Conway, to fulfill the requirement established in the research grant to study the effects of spring cattle grazing on sage grouse behavior.


Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in wildlife or range management or closely related field plus two years of post-bachelors experience with minimal supervision. At least two years of experience working with grouse and grouse/habitat relationships.
- Experience working independently and within a group.
- Experience writing proposals, managing budgets, and managing research projects.


Preferred Qualifications:
- M.S. or Ph.D. degree in biology, natural resources, wildlife biology or closely related field.
- Experience publishing papers in peer-reviewed journals.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Experience working/interacting with cattle ranchers in the western U.S.
- Ability to identify western range plants.
- Some familiarity with using arcGIS.
- At least one year of experience working in sagebrush habitats with sage-grouse.
- Experience giving presentations at professional society conferences.


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Ability to spend up to 6 months at a remote field sites and work unusual hours (including nights).
- Valid drivers license and ability to pass the University Defensive Driving course.
- Ability to drive 4WD vehicles over rough terrain.
