Student-Athlete Development Coordinator

UIW Mission


Position Summary
The Student-Athlete Development Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of life skills programming designed to support student athletes success and well-being through a variety of areas: knowledge and application of campus and athletic resources, as well as career and personal development programming. In reflection of the mission, this position will oversee community engagement and service while also serving as the co-advisor of Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Position reports to the Assistant Director, Athletics Academic Advising.

This position is considered a "Responsible Employee" under Title IX federal regulations and "Mandatory Reporter" under Texas state law and the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you as the employee to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about Title IX violations. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.

Essential Functions


Job Duties


Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Strong working knowledge of NCAA Bylaws, with particular attention to academics and eligibility requirements;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Ability to promotediversity equity and inclusion initiatives;
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.


Required Education
Bachelors Degree.



Required Work Experience
  • One year experience in programming and support for student-athletes;
  • Experience facilitating educational workshops and events.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree.
  • Two years of experience working with Division I student-athletes.
  • Student-athlete development experience at the collegiate level.

N/A.

Work Hours
Monday - Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, with extended hours as needed to meet departmental goals. Programming may require monthly evening and weekend event facilitation as appropriate each semester.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 10lbs for table set-up/tear-down at events.
  • Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to regularly move about campus and event venues to actively engage potential and current students, as well as attend meetings on and off campus.
