Temporary Instructor for Building Technology and Energy Efficiency

About the Opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced High School Vocational Instructor specializing in HVAC, facilities management, or smart buildings to join our collaborative research project funded by the Department of Energy. This role is ideal for a professional passionate about curriculum development and dedicated to educating the next generation of building operators. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of a cutting-edge training program aiming to educate building operators on grid-interactive efficient buildings (GEB).
Responsibilities

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, educators, and industry experts from various institutions and organizations. Assist in the development and continuous improvement of a "gamified" whole-building control simulator curriculum for high school vocational technology students and community colleges. Implement the trail phase of the curriculum, supplementing an existing energy efficiency fundamentals program. Help develop training materials and lesson plans that provide a human-centered approach to learning, focusing on sustainable energy technologies, occupant comfort, health, and satisfaction. Monitor, evaluate, and report on students' progress throughout the program. Participate in ongoing professional development activities related to the project.
Qualifications

Experience as a high school vocational instructor in HVAC, facilities management, or smart buildings. Proven interest in curriculum development and a commitment to enhancing educational practices. Familiarity with concepts of the electric grid, energy-efficient building practices, and building decarbonization is preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development activities.
