Job Summary

The University of Colorado's Mountain Research Station in Nederland, CO is now accepting applications for Kitchen Leads for both AM and PM Shifts! (Details are outlined below). These positions will be responsible for preparing meals for Breakfast and Lunch (AM shift) and Dinner (PM shift) for 20-50 people, and occasionally up to 100 people. This is a Temporary position that is anticipated to last over the Summer from June 10th through August 21st, with occasional Saturdays. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Lead as the kitchen manager to cook meals for employees, customers and visitors to the Mountain Research Station.
Responsible for leading support kitchen staff, typically one additional person.
Prepare, cook, serve, and clean-up scheduled daily meals.
Set menu and order food within constraints of a budget to meet demand of planned weekly customers.
Follow all applicable food safety rules and regulations.
Provide excellent customer service as primary communicator between kitchen and customers.

What You Should Know

These positions are anticipated to last from June 10th through August 21st.
Actual hours will depend on the number of guests and dates and will vary throughout the summer.
These positions are located at the Mountain Research Center in Nederland, CO.
Core hours for the Morning/AM shift are:

Monday - Friday from 5:30am - 10am
Saturday from 6am - 11am

Core hours for Evening/PM shift are:

Monday - Saturday from 3pm - 10pm
Saturday shifts are subject to change (some weekends no hours, some weekends more hours) Flexibility with hours and days worked required.

What We Can Offer

The hourly range for this full-time position is $24 - $27 per hour.
Room and board (rustic cabin with running water) will be provided if needed as well as 2 meals per workday.

Benefits

Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave.

What We Require

3-5 years of experience in a kitchen leadership position.
Certification or ability to complete certification for Food Manager Certification (ANSI Food Certification). Course can be completed online upon hire at employer expense.

What You Will Need

Ability to work independently to manage time and cook for groups of 20-50 without supervision with a small support team.
Experience and willingness to work with Station Manager to develop menu that meets dietary needs and also considers and fits within operating budget.
