About the Opportunity:
The Training Specialist will coordinate the Center for the Study of Sport in Society's (CSSS) research, training, education, and outreach programs. The Training Specialist holds primarily responsibility for assisting the Executive Director in ensuring productive and efficient internal operations at CSSS and client proposals and communications, and in assisting the Assistant Director of Training with the facilitation of social justice workshops.

Responsibilities:
The Training Specialist will facilitate CSSS's world-renowned Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) workshops, which take a bystander intervention approach to gender-based violence. The Training Specialist will also facilitate CSSS's racial justice workshops, bullying-prevention workshops, and customized curricula. The Training Specialist will assist the Assistant Director of Training with curriculum development as necessary.

The Training Specialist will aid in the strategic growth and social impact of CSSS through management of programs and events. The Training Specialist will manage all internal and external communications and social media. This position must be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, both internal and external. CSSS's programs have local, national, and international scope working with a wide variety of service populations. These populations include but are not limited to high school students and staff, college student-athletes and staff, professional athletes, health educators, violence prevention specialists, educators, coaches, etc. The Training Specialist must be able to communicate effectively with each of these groups.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field required
  • 2-3 years of experience in related field - program management, education, facilitation
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and diversity
  • Athletic background required, coaching experience a plus
  • Knowledge of core CSSS issues, including leadership, healthy development, diversity and inclusion, violence prevention, community building, and sport-based youth development, and a high comfort level in discussing these issues
  • Experience in curriculum design, understanding of educational pedagogies, and facilitated dialogue
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Experience with event planning
  • Collaborative, community-building approach to work
