About the Opportunity

JOB SUMMARY:

The Vice Chancellor of Experiential Education is responsible for developing and implementing strategies for experiential learning and related programs that align to and advance the overall goals of the university, strengthening and innovating experiential learning across all colleges and campuses. In this role the Vice Chancellor will lead, providing guidance and support as necessary, to a growing team that includes all central Co-op resources within the Office of the Chancellor to support cooperative education throughout the university as well as an Experiential Partnership Development function charged with increasing experiential learning opportunities for all Northeastern students. The Vice-Chancellor will collaborate with relevant Northeastern offices and key internal stakeholders, including senior academic leadership, to ensure that experiential learning programs continue to meet the highest standard of excellence as an integral part of the student learning experience. The Vice-Chancellor will strategically engage key external stakeholders to ensure strategies and programs are informed by the latest industry practices and hiring trends, as well as to represent the university and advance its position as a leader in experiential learning.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Candidates for the Vice Chancellor position must have a master's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Five to seven years of experience in a leadership position with strong leadership, collaboration, and communications skills, demonstrated experience working effectively with students, colleges, and external constituents in higher education, and demonstrated examples of innovating and optimizing.
  • The ideal candidate will have leadership experience in a progressive, student/career-focused education environment with expertise in emergent experiential learning opportunities and insights.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and experience collaborating with companies and organizations is preferred, domestically and internationally.
  • They must be detail-oriented, deadline-oriented, and a multi-tasker who can lead time-sensitive, mission-critical projects and work collaboratively & effectively across university divisions to mediate issues and solve problems expediently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Leadership
  • Build and lead a high-performing team. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement to drive excellence.
  • Develop and cultivate an experiential ecosystem that, in collaboration with colleges, that enables the entire experiential student journey from ideation to execution to ongoing support.


Collaboration and Engagement with Colleges & Campuses
  • Act as the experiential education steward, subject matter expert, and liaison with the entire community for the Office of the Chancellor regarding all things related to student experiential learning.
  • Work towards building a coherent, comprehensive, cohesive, co-operative and experiential education ecosystem that serves the needs and interests of the entire university and our employer partners.
  • Work with academic programs to better understand needs and opportunities for relevant experiential pathways.


Engagement and Outreach
  • Promote and advance the value statement of experiential education with students & parents, staff and faculty, alumni, employer partners, and other key external stakeholders.
  • Lead a proactive outreach effort with employers and organizations (domestic and globally) to increase partnerships, offer emergent and relevant experiential opportunities, and establish Northeastern University as a key talent broker to access in-demand rising professionals from our academic programs.



Data Reporting
  • Establish comprehensive, integrated, and distributed reporting strategy across units to ensure data collection is actionable, informative, and aimed at continuous improvement.
  • Develop and execute surveys that keep the pulse on both student and employer experiences and lead to action.
  • Utilize industry and university data insights, trends, and forecasts to inform strategy and take action.
  • Assess learner success, persistence, and satisfaction data to improve support resources and guide program planning for a better student/employer experience.
